About me

Jitka Halaštová

Her whole life is intertwined with a love of fine arts. Her work focuses mainly on painting, sewing Teddy bears using traditional techniques and creating small ceramic objects. She seeks inspiration primarily in her family, close people and nature. Immediacy, free in spirit and courageous in her breadth of interests, themes and motifs, the joy of creation flows from her works.

She comes from České Budějovice. She moved to Rudná u Prahy from northern Moravia. For many years she worked as an accountant in an elementary art school, head of the cultural committee and also worked with children in ceramic workshops. She now works in Prague as an economist. She exhibits her paintings in galleries in Bohemia and Moravia. In recent years, she has also been exhibiting Teddy bears sewn using the classic technique.

In 2022, she participated with her four teddy bears in the competition at Lucerna Doll Prague 2022. It is an international exhibition of professional artistic dolls, puppets and teddy bears. She won first place in the main thematic category - Teddy Bear, and in the creative category she won first and second place.

Why joseph-jez? It was my son's idea. My grandmother had a small picture of her brother hanging in her house. He always looked at us, then my grandmother gave it to me, and now it's in our house. His name was Joseph. And Jež, that's my father's name.
So that's how it came about.
